5.0 out of 5 stars Smokin Smoker, March 12, 2010

This review is from: Masterbuilt M7P 7-in-1 Smoker and Grill with Pan and Basket Set (Lawn & Patio)
I went to various retail outlets to inspect Webers, Brinkman and the Masterbuilt. I ended up buying the Masterbuilt M7P. I also was not interested in refrigerator size smoker either. An 18.5 inch grill diameter suites me fine.
Here's why:
1. Brinkman - Single not multi-tiered. Harder to work in lower chamber unless you're very tall. Priced over (...)
2. Weber - Way over priced, period. Only had charcoal option not duel; charcoal and/or propane. Height to low.
3. Shop the inet. You can find an M7P for under (...).

I can control the heat better with propane rather than charcoal as I like a cooler smoke under 125 degrees. I bought the M7P strictly for smoking as I have a gas BBQ grill. The M7P water pan could be used as a drip bowl if you do.
Kit included an aluminum pot and mesh basket, I suppose for crab/lobster boils.

Masterbuilt M7P
Pros:
* Xlnt packaging as every square inch was utilized. Amazed how small a box the M7P arrived... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, but a couple of nits, April 19, 2011

This review is from: Masterbuilt M7P 7-in-1 Smoker and Grill with Pan and Basket Set (Lawn & Patio)
I've used smokers for 30+ years--probably 8 of them. Charcoal, electric, pellet, and now propane. Priorities for me are ease of use, smoking quality, product design and execution, and value for the price.

The M7P scores high on all of these criteria, except for a couple of minor shortcomings.

Good News:

Super good packing, easy assembly.
Good construction, bearing in mind you're not getting heavy steel body and porcelain grids at this price.
Easy to use (but see the not-so-good news below).
Excellent range of temperatures.
Can cook with charcoal or gas.
If using charcoal, can start it with gas (BIG convenience!)
Extras (fryer/steamer pan with basket)

Not-So-Good News:

Can't add water through front access (but you won't need to on must smoking jobs).
No igniter (but using a 99-cent butane stick lighter is easy).
Burner control is on the regulator at the propane tank end of the hose -- an... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars OK quality - easy assembly, August 23, 2010

This is an OK unit for the price. Don't expect a heavy duty unit.

One BIG learning -

If you turn on the propane to quickly it triggers something in the pressure regulator and it will severely limit the heat. You will not be able to get it to the right temperature.

I saw this fix online and it worked like a champ:

1. Shut off gas at propane tank
2. Open the pressure regulator all the way.
3. Disconnect the hose from the propane tank.
4. Reconnect to propane tank - leave the pressure regulator wide open.
5. SLOWLY turn on the propane tank while lighting the burner.

Once you do this you can completely adjust the flame.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brinkmann electric smoker, February 23, 2012

I purchased this smoker basically for the ease of use and because I also own a Brinkmann propane gas grill. The overall quality is good for the price I paid. Assembling the smoker was easy and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. There were no missing parts and the smoker went together quickly. Another reason I purchased this smoker is the availability of replacement parts from the Brinkmann website if any are needed in the future. The control for the heater element is simple, just like an electric skillet. You will need an temperature probe to monitor the temperature as the one on the door is not that accurate. I am pleased with the smoker and would recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Smokes great however made cheap, January 30, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Vertical Electric Smoker (Lawn & Patio)
I oredered this smoker and it was very easy to assemble , the smoker works great the water pan is too small which means you must keep a close eye on the smoker to ensure water does not run out and your meat gets dry . After the first use the temp. guage quit working , i figured i would still use. However after the second use the plug in prong melted and i can no longer use it . I am currently waiting on replacement and hopefully will not have the same problems. I would not buy this product it is not worth the money , Lowes has a better smoker that is half the price and has a much bigger water pan .

Brinkmann 810-5100-0 All-in-One Outdoor Cooker, Stainless Steel

Customer Rating :
Rating: 5.0

List Price : $427.50 Price : $218.56
brinkman propane smoker

Product Description

The Stainless Steel All-In-One is the most versatile outdoor cooking system ever offered. It's modular design enables the Stainless Steel All-In-One to be used as an LP gas grill, LP gas water smoker, charcoal grill, charcoal water smoker, or gas cooker/fryer with 170,000 BTU adjustable high/low burner. The body features two chrome plated steel cooking grills for a 50 pound cooking capacity. A heat indicator in the lid eliminates guesswork and the wooden handles stay cool to the touch. Also includes a drip pan/ash guard, porcelain enamel water pan, lava rocks, and gas hose and regulator. Propane tank and pot not included.

Amazon.com Review

Designed for the highly versatile outdoor chef, the Brinkmann All-in-One cooker delivers five distinct uses in one minimally bulky unit. By removing or rearranging the All-in-One's separate components, you can fry, grill, or smoke with gas, or grill or smoke with charcoal. Constructed with an all-welded frame, the unit features a raised rim for extra stability and sturdy U-shaped legs. Switching between cooking methods is simple and straightforward. For gas frying, the cooker uses the standalone base with a flat pan, a stable enough construction to hold the large pots used to cook turkeys and lobster. For gas grilling, it features a vented, aluminized base pan that holds the included lava rocks securely above the LP gas burner. Replace the lava rocks with charcoal, and voila, you now have a charcoal grill. In its charcoal grill configuration, the All-in-One can be removed from its standing legs for camping, tailgate parties, or picnics. As a smoker, powered by charcoal or by gas, the cooker uses two racks to hold up to 50 pounds of food and a water/marinade pan to generate steam.

An integral part of the All-in-One's versatility, the dome lid fits every configuration and includes a simple heat indicator to cut down on guesswork. Its rounded shape also forces the circulation of heat, smoke, and steam, so food cooks evenly without the necessity of basting or turning. Both the chrome-plated steel grills and the porcelain-enamel water pan on this model clean up easily, and the wooden handles stay cool. Brinkmann aluminizes the base pan to prevent rusting and equips the hose with an adjustable regulator for precise flame control. The unit also provides a rust-resistant drip pan to catch ash, embers, and grease. Assembly is required. Housed in beautiful stainless-steel, the UL-listed outdoor cooker measures 17 by 17 by 45 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty. --Emily Bedard

I've had this for about ten years, now. It works great. The only problem is the non-stainless steel parts. I've had to replace the lava rock pan and burner assembly twice, and I've just ordered new ones. the la st ime I ordered them from Brinkmann, it took over a month to get the parts, and customer service was a disaster. I finally had to go throught he parent company(Remington Firearms) in order to get my parts.

This cooker keeps meat juicy because it cooks slower. The gas is lower than most bbqs so stuff cooks slower. If you are in a hurry you can turn the flame up. Stainless keeps the coastal air from rusting it.
